The Goa legislative assembly discussed the Sonsoddo solid waste issue, which has remained unresolved for over two decades, yet again on Wednesday.

After years of sluggishness due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the state government expects Goa’s economy to grow by 10.3% in the coming financial year. The growth is likely to be driven by the newly-constructed Manohar International Airport at Mopa, tourism, and the anticipated resumption of mining activities.

The Goa Restriction on Transfer of Agricultural Land Bill, 2023, introduced in the assembly on Tuesday, has provisions for industries, cooperative farming societies, and non-agriculturists who intend to buy agricultural land to pursue farming.

CM Pramod Sawant told the House on Tuesday that the government would ensure that the demand of Scheduled Tribes (ST) for political reservation is fulfilled. “By 2027, the ST community will get political reservation,” the CM said after the opposition’s incessant questioning over delays on this issue.
