Bombay HC calls for checks on ‘rampant illegal fishing’ in Goa

There is a need for the coastal police to be involved in inspecting fishing trawlers, the high court of Bombay said while hearing a petition on rampant unauthorised LED fishing taking place in the state. The division bench directed the coastal police to thoroughly inspect the vessels and if they find that the vessels are equipped with gear to indulge in bull/pair trawling or are using LED or other artificial lights, they should take the necessary action to prevent such vessels from going to the sea with such equipment/gear.
